Utility Planner II

Job Functions:

  • Independently oversee, prepare, develop, plan, coordinate, and manage all documentation required to complete pre-construction planning of various projects and schedules.

  • Attend field visits with customers, contractors, construction teams, client representatives and government agencies, developers to initiate pre-construction planning.

  • Create construction orders based on the company’s policies, safety, and governmental regulations.

  • Analyze project scope and work with the customer to gather necessary information and understand the requirements.

  • Concurrently work on multiple projects with various project managers and designers to provide necessary information for each specific job.

  • Utilize engineering calculations, develop designs for cost-effective construction service orders.

  • Perform analysis on load data and coordinates gas and electric load studies including engineering calculations utilizing accepted systems and best practices to determine required design details.

  • Track and report project and financial development using established project management tools, timing and methods appropriate for the project.

  • Manage costs and schedules of assigned projects.

  • Responsible for agreements negotiations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Position Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree is required.

  • Degree and study in the area of planner or project manager is preferred.

  • Project management, construction management, planner certification is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electric/gas distribution planning is required.

  • Certificate in the area of project management, construction or planner is preferred.

  • Experience with SAP, Procore is a plus.

  • Prior work experience with SDG&E, SCE or PG&E is a plus.

  • Excellent analysis, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving skills.

  • Strong customer service skills and proactive follow-up (internal and external).

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Utilize personal vehicle to attend meetings and field investigations.

  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain normally found at construction sites to access utility facilities not accessible by vehicles.

  • Required to lift field equipment up to 30 lbs as needed.

  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
